August 14th 2012. never.no has announced that it has made the short list of nominees for the CSI Awards 2012. never.no’s Synchronized Companion App Framework (SCAF) is in the running for Best Social TV Technology, Service, or Application – a new category this year. The Best Social TV category recognises any technology, service, solution, or application that encourages multitasking, second-screening/simulscreening and other forms of viewing behaviour.“CSI’s addition of the ‘Best Social TV’ category is a nod to the power of Social TV and its increasingly strong influence on the industry,” said never.no CEO, Lars Lauritzsen.


“Our goal at never.no is to give our customers the technology to capitalize on the Social TV experience, and being nominated for this award is proof that our technology is working.”


SCAF is one of the latest features of never.no’s Interactivity Suite. It enables content to be delivered to a tablet, mobile device, or PC in sync with the action on the viewer’s television screen.


Broadcasters can develop distinctive, branded applications that push/pull information or media relevant to real-time TV, to a second screen such as an iPad (or tablet), smartphone, or PC.


SCAF works by listening to frame-by-frame changes in automation, graphics, ad, or timing systems within the broadcast programming or live production environment via DCS.


These changes can be used to trigger delivery of relevant or interactive content to the second screen.


Likewise, SCAF powered Synchronized Companion Apps can send viewer data and input back to the broadcast facility via ADS.


As a result, tablets, smartphones, and PCs become perfect peripherals for Social TV, participation TV, and the ultimate two-screen experience.


Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on September 7th 2012 at IBC2012 in Amsterdam. never.no will demonstrate SCAF at IBC2012 in its Social TV stand 7.A06.
