Rating: But anyway Bluetooth proximity marketing is dead
Nice bit of scandal came through the wires following an earlier story GoMobile News ran about the BluPod from Blutential here which offers Bluetooth based proximity marketing. Well, one Keith Devanney from a company named Bluemore alleges that his original design was ‘stolen’ by Blutential. It seems very clear that Bluemore – which is based here in Blighty (Consett, County Durham, UK) specialises in the design and manufacture of RFID; NFC; Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices. Bluemore is apparently on the verge of launching the very next thing in proximity marketing.According to Devanney, the Bluetooth based marketing model is dead but the opposition just hasn’t realised this yet.
His company, Bluemore, has a replacement product which will “launch pretty soon”, according to Devaney.
The allegation which GoMobile News cannot substantiate is the alleged thief who stole the design which became the BluPod was one John Boyle.
Boyle does appear to be resident in Boca Raton, Florida where Bluetential is based but GoMobile News cannot find any direct connexion to Blutential.
To substantiate his claims, Devanney points us to a specific site www.nfc-wifi-id.com where there are various photos of devices.
Most have the Blumore name on them but one here has the Blutential name printed on the circuitboard.
Also Devanney appears to have developed a product called WifiID. He has a site for it here but it is basically empty.
There’s also a video of him demonstrating the product working on a Samsung Android handset.
We might be able to tell you what the app does except there appears to be no sound with the video. Shame.
