Guest Post: Top ways to make the BlackBerry fun

by Muhammad Azam, a professional writer and gadget enthusiastic

A BlackBerry phone is all work and no fun. Or it was at least when the company launched its series of handsets quite some years back onto the market. Now that there so many apps and the games available on the market, isn’t it time that you converted your smartphone into something fun as well? Using the right BlackBerry apps and games will make it fun for you even when in the office. The device which was originally targeted as a workaholic tool is no longer the same. The Black Berry market has extended beyond just email terminals and RIM has targeted the BlackBerry towards teenagers and the people who have not started work yet. They can still make use of BlackBerry phones to connect to the world over Wi-Fi and a 3G network, of course.
BlackBerry phones became popular because of the fact that they were the first of all true smartphones on the market and Apple’s iPhone came way after them.

Although the iPhone has won the battle in terms of smartphones sales and revenue generation, yet RIM has not stopped working hard to restore its former glories.

The news has appeared on the web, in print and even on TV that the company will be launching new devices with the BlackBerry 10 OS very soon * – January 30th 2013. [See here].

Incidentally, RIM will be renaming the BlackBerry App World to simply BlackBerry World before the BB10 launch.

If you want to see what BB10 games are already available, change the filtering settings.

If you pick Dev Alpha the system displays BB10 compatible apps. Neither of the games below are actually BB10 yet.

With BB10 devices being readied for launch, those specialising in the mobile accessories market have come up with rumours about the size and the dimensions of the new phones.

After all, the ‘Dev Alpha’ BlackBerry 10 handset which has been distributed to software developers probably doesn’t provide many clues.

Hopefully the hype will do for dealers what it did for the iPhone so that dealers can resell BlackBerry cases, covers, skins and other kinds of accessories into the market.

Never mind Rovio’s $5 Angry Birds, my choice of fun apps that third party developers are launching Include: – Second Gear games’ Bubble Army and Gameloft’s Gangstar 2 King of L.A.

Bubble Army: This game is as addicting for you as Tetris was. There are two teams and then there are neutral bubbles.

Once you attack one bubble, its half of the army is gone. Before time, you have to develop the stamina to take over both the neutral and the enemy bubbles, before the other party’s army is ready to again.

You can download this app from the BlackBerry App World here for under $3 here or there’s a free demo here.

Gangstar 2 King of L.A: This game is much similar to Grand Theft Auto (GTA). The plot of the game is the same as that of the GTA.

You are a thug and you are the master of street fighting and robbing the streets and stores of Los Angeles.

You also have to fight the police and the army too on streets. This app will cost you around $99c from here.

Interestingly you’ll need your existing BlackBerry PIN number.
One way to discover this is by opening a new text, email message, or Memo and just typing ‘mypin’. Your existing PIN will appear as if by magic.
