2012′s Top Stories: Nokia N73 Software Update

Although the original story was posted as long ago as May 23rd 2008, the story ‘Nokia update N73 Software‘  continues to haunt us here at GoMobile News Towers. That story merely reported that in Europe, Nokia has released a newer version of the OS for the N73. The benefits of the upgrade included support for mobile TV (but only when used with the Nokia SU-33W receiver) and plus an Express Mail client. That story has now generated an astonishing 103 responses. Most of these comments are simply a plea for help but not one of the readers we have written back to via email have ever replied. So the saga continues.

Initially, GoMobile News assumed that readers were unclear over how to go about updating the OS on the handset.

So we wrote How to update the N73′s OS. That in itself has generate 32 responses.

It highlighted the fact that when upgrading some readers encountered a ‘memory full’ error.

If you read the Comments below that particular article you will find that Abdur Rasel describes how to overcome this obstacle.

Despite the follow-up story, comments still kept arriving thick and fast. This led us to a further story – ‘Another update for Indian Nokia N73 owners‘,  where we attempted to help out those readers based in India.

In that story we attempted to help out those who were seeking access to mobile TV by explaining how they could use the Zenga TV service instead.

That story generated another 14 responses but still the Comments keep coming in.

Sadly, none of our readers have managed to explain EXACTLY why do they want to update the software.

We suspect it may be an attempt to load contemporary apps. However, N73 owners who want the popular Whatsapp app are out of luck.

As we explained previously, if you look on the Whatsapp support page here, the N73 is missing from the list of supported phones.

What we need is for readers to tell us why they need an update? What do they expect to achieve from it? Or what facility is actually missing?

Perhaps there’s a need for a story on how to set up email on the N73 in the Asia Pacific region? You tell us.

If nothing else, this feedback clearly shows that lots of owners love their Nokia N73.
